Dance and Theater Collaboration

7th Graders in Ms. Locke’s dance class and Ms. Poverstein’s theater classes collaborated to create original compositions that retold a fairy tale through dance. Students created a vision for their story before they began and pondered some of these questions:

“What is the important theme or message you want to express with your story?”

“Do you see this as a contemporary retelling of the story? (consider diversity, equity, inclusion)”

“This fairytale has been told many times before, what makes your vision for the story unique?”
