The Eastern Star Gallery class was created to display contemporary art with the goal of educating, encouraging, and developing a vital interest and passion for the visual arts in the Archer community and abroad.  The gallery and outreach objective is also to showcase and promote underrepresented artists and arts organizations.

Members work with arts faculty, Ms. Kremin and Ms. Alford to select a collection of work from artists and organizations to exhibit in the gallery throughout the school year. Students are involved with every aspect of the gallery business, including designing posters, writing press releases and texts, curating the show, publicity, and hosting openings. ESG members learn how to discuss and educate others about the work on view and receive training in art interpretation, communication skills, and on the art and artists’ historical significance. Students research and meet with each artist or organization to learn about the intricacies of their work, major themes and techniques.

The Eastern Star Gallery provides the community with a unique opportunity to personally experience the work of important artists.  In addition to viewing diverse exhibits, the campus community reaps the additional benefit of the panel discussions, artist talks, and workshops, which bring together gallery directors, artists, critics, and curators to our campus to discuss the work.

The Eastern Star gallery Program is committed to being an educational art space where artists from all backgrounds feel supported.
