PEP TALK
Emily Silver
On view from January 28th - March 5th, 2026
The Eastern Star Gallery is proud to present Pep Talk, a solo exhibition of work by Los Angeles-based artist Emily Silver. By incorporating sculpture, textiles, weaving, and drawing, Silver brings her work to life. This immersive environment is made up of Silver's work, encapsulating the idea of self reassurance through times of uncertainty. Silver is able to illustrate these themes of discontent with self and self reassurance through times of adversity. The artistic environment she created immerses its viewer into her work, carrying an energy of continuing on, transformation, and uncertainty. Pep Talk does its job in displaying Silver’s practice in material labor and sustained attention within our gallery space.
The title Pep Talk is coming from the internal conversations we have with ourselves, the good and the bad. The conversations involve moments of self reassurance, confrontation, and encouragement that occur in times where your own stability feels temporary. Silver dives into this emotional narrative of self-reassurance through her work; which appears in the exhibition through the form of brightly overloaded walls and emotionally moving words. The work within the exhibition was made during a time of extremely transformative times for Silver, with work made within the events following an impactful health diagnosis, emotional and psychic transformation.
Pep Talk opens at the Eastern Star Gallery on Wednesday, January 28, and runs through Thursday, March 5, 2026. Please join us for the opening celebration on Wednesday, January 28, from 6:00 – 7:30 p.m. Please note the campus will open at 5:45 p.m. Parking is available on site. Please RSVP using this link.
